Alan Wake 2 has sold 1.3 million copies, making it the fastest selling Remedy game of all time. I guess going digital only for a full priced game didn't hurt them at all.

I’ve almost bought it a few times. I feel like every time I visit any digital storefront it’s in my face. I guess the aggressive advertising is working.

I saw this on Gematsu earlier. Smoke and mirrors, imo. 1.3 million copies when your development + marketing costs are a reported $70 million isn't exactly great if you do the math. If you look beneath the surface and beyond whatever headline they try to push, I think you see a much clearer picture.

There's this quote from the press release:

"the game has already recouped a significant part of the development and marketing expenses."

So the game still hasn't turned a profit. And Remedy Entertainment's stock is down 30% in the last month which is a HUGE drop so obviously investors aren't happy with the company's outlook. You take Epic's money, you skip over a physical release and you're still in the red.

I don't see how this is positive news. It scares me that a game that had all this buzz and hype is super, super niche. For reference, Granblue Fantasy Relink, a super niche JRPG which came out last week, has already sold 1 million copies. Maybe just maybe limiting the number of people who are able to buy your game that cost a crapton to make isn't' a good idea.

Who's the say it wouldn't be at 2 million or 2.5 million with physical? I personal know some people that won't buy a digital only game. I prefer physical myself but I did buy it.

Same here. I usually buy only physical copies unless forced, like with Alan Wake 2, to go digital l, and I bought it too and loved it. Still wish they gave us a physical option though. Not a fan of other all digital only upcoming big release games like Hellblade 2, but the first one I think was digital only also with a only I think European copies on physical, so that’s not too much of a surprise. But yeah, I think if Alan Wake 2 went hybrid physical and digital it would have likely doubled its sales by now.

Since I am a dollar sign I speak with my money. It is the only power I have. When the rumor came out their next XSX version will be discless (this one is much more solid and likely to happen) I ditched Xbox. I didn't buy baldur's gate 3 when it was digital only and now I have a physical collectors edition on the way for PS5. I won't buy alan wake 3 either. They are definitely missing out on a lot of physical sales, and it's a choice they made. My choice is to not buy it.

I've tried to play the Outcast remake demo twice, and both times it crashes within 60 seconds of starting one of the three modes. Which you can only play each mode twice, for a maximum of 20 minutes. And then the demo is worthless as you can't play anymore. And the one mode I can not try again now because it counted both 1 minute sessions before crashing as me completing it. What a joke.

I ain’t buying a pro unless it lets me run all games in 4k 60fps without these different modes. That’s the only way I’ll consider a pro model cause right now my PS5 is just fine for me minus the slight back and forth with graphics options but it’s a minor inconvenience at best.

issue of performance is mostly a game by game basis and the developer. Like, I'm sure some people will thing the Switch 2 will play the new Zelda games out of the box at 60 FPS but it doesn't work like that unless they update the games as they were made targeting 30 FPS. And knowing Nintendo you'll be paying full price all over again for ports.

Personally I don't see a need for upgrading to a Pro model just like I didn't bother with PS4 Pro. Even on the base model PS4 late in the system's life I was still impressed with what that system was capable of graphically, Horizon: Zero Dawn and the Tomb Raider reboot trilogy especially, and I played them a few years after they each had released.

Seeing the FF7 Rebirth Demo suffer on PS5, was a bit alarming. Hopefully will be better come release, but wouldn't count on it. Games are kind of already bottlenecked on current hardware, it's gonna get worse.

Still, unless there's a compelling need/reason, I agree, will wait for PS6.

I only picked up the PS4 Pro because of the Million Edition was just too damn cool. Really wish we'd go back to Translucent designs!

SMT:V Vengeance was just announced for all platforms. Which is SMT:V with its new DLC. It was originally just a switch title. June 21st this year.

"Vengeance adds a second route to the game, the first route is the original game. The second route starts off similar to the first route but there are significant changes in the middle/late game and there's a different ending. Both routes come with Vengeance, and are roughly 80+ hours apiece."

So its not actually DLC, its a remake of the story pretty much. Which means they actually added story this time.

Yeah, it ran like crap on the switch. I suffered through it. But don't remember anything about it really. The story was pretty much non existent. It was such an odd game. I'm looking forward to seeing what they added for the story.

It's on my hit list along with Tekken 8 and Persona 3. I've been juggling Helldivers 2 (Soo good!) and Granblue Fantasy Relink (10 hours in. It's solid). And then Rebirth drops in a week. It has been an insane start to the year!

I upgraded to the PS4 Pro when gamestop had a great bonus trade in and the Star Wars Pro was on sale. I got rid of the game it came with but that was a slick looking PS4 Pro (I still have the controller) everything played better, and it was worth it. As of right now I will say I will not upgrade, but will have to see what the Pro has going for it.

The reason I am doing it is I don't have proper gaming PC right at the moment... I will sell my PS5 and gladly get a upgraded PS5. When it comes time for a PS6, I will jut take the pro and move it up stairs. I have actuallly been pretty good this gen. I am still rocking my launch PS5... last gen when a really good revision came out I would get it, when the Slim came out... got it... same with the Pro. Not this gen, that's why I will gladly get a pro.

I would definitely upgrade, especially if it means 4K:60 and not having to choose between 4k:30 and 1080p:60 - imagine playing Spiderman in fidelity with the performance FPS etc.

PS5 is good hardware but it still can't push enough fps in fidelity modes and especially if there's ray tracing. Gimme that Pro or 6 any day I'd upgrade day 1.

All they care about is "the line goes up", anything "quality" that's not 100% guarenteed to make them money (nothing is 100%...) gets tossed. Shaving pounds to save pennies is what they're doing, these MBA dolts don't know what the market wants, and wouldn't be able to find out with a map and a native guide, lol.

The thing is with things the way they are right now smaller dev's would vanish. This has nothing to do with Big companies buying up little ones. This IMO has everything to do with the Tech bubble we were hearing about. With the pandemic there was a massive run on tech from working at home or trying to kill time! The Videogame industry saw some pretty big growth in that time and the industry when on a pretty big hiring spree what we are seeing now is things adjusting to reflect current market trends. There is a lot of over reacting right now. I am however glad Sony is stepping back from this Live service kick. I don't mind having one or two games in Sony's stables that are live service as it keeps a steady flow cash to help fund games I enjoy BUT Sony I think was trying WAY to hard.

Games like Fortnite and Warzone get a pass cause they're free to play games that are technically "live service". Then there's the bullcrap pay full msrp for "live service". The latter games tend to always fail.

Those are live service games. But they are also free to play games. So people don't care about them nickle and dimming to make money. As its a free game. And those are purely cosmetic purchases. The issue people have is when you buy a $70 game, and it turns out to be a live service game that is constantly putting ads in your face to buy DLC. They then also seem to design the game around road blocks and frustrating the player in hopes they pay for the micro-transactions to make the game not so frustrating. Meaning they are not just cosmetic. They also seem to force ads on you more than f2p games do. There are two types of these games. Ones that are done correctly like Fortnite that people don't have a problem with. And then all the other crap we get like Destiny 2, Diablo 4, Overwatch and so many others.

Oh ok. I guess I don't really understand the Diablo 4 one because I bought that game and beat it and did a little end game and never bought anything extra.

Also some games like CoD cold war for instance has a battle pass, but the game was fine without it but you could get it for $10 and get cool guns and operators and stuff, I never had an issue with it.

I guess if it was pay to win or pay to get things that really should just be in the game I could see. But I see the point I mean I appreciate normal games like Persona 3R I'm playing now it's just a game no added BS or extra transactions etc

@longhornsk57 Diablo 4 intentionally slowed the players progress down, making the grind longer and harder. Then released the season battle passes that give you xp boosts and material boosts. Which then do not even bring you back up to what the game was initially like before seasons came out and they nerfed everything into the ground. Their entire game design is around making you play as long as possible in hopes you spend money on the battle pass and other cosmetics. Which is what people have a problem with.

CoD I personally think also falls on the Fortnite side. You can't really buy things in CoD that I'm aware of to make it pay to win, or to give you a shortcut in game. Its just cosmetic stuff isn't it? I don't play CoD so I don't know and don't pay attention to it.

Diablo IV cap grind was pretty rough and they made it almost impossible to cap for endgame after seasons launched. Unless you spend every waking hour doing very repetitive grinds - and then they made the Uber Lilith boss- which is pretty trash because they meant for you to scale to it over a really long haul until people busted it. I preferred the monthly fee model honestly.

I agree about pay-to-win, it needs to go away. You know what sucks about the cosmetic stuff, though? Back in my day kids were judged by their peers based on what brand of sneakers they were wearing to school, or if you had a Starter brand jacket or not. These days they're judged by what skins they own in Fortnite and whatever other free-to-play game that becomes the flavor of the week.

Those are all solid. I'm currently playing through Hogwarts Legacy. Recently, I played Sifu. If you're into hard kung fu games, it's absolutely amazing. Astro's Playroom was pretty cool and it's free!. PS+ is definitely worth it if you like a variety of games. Sackboy, Returnal, Stray, and Kena are all available on there plus tons of other games. For anyone just getting a PS5 I always recommend getting the middle tier of PS+ for 1-3 months. It's a great way to try some fantastic games in the catalog and either keep doing PS+ to play them, or find out which ones you like and go find them used and let PS+ expire.

PS+ Extra yes I agree that it's especially good if you're just getting into ps4/ps5 games.
Once you've played them or bought them, it's less worth it.

For most games yes. Some obnoxious companies charge for a PS5 upgrade like for Callisto Protocol and Call of Duty. Those companies can eat all the donkey peen.

I don't have a problem paying $10 to upgrade a game. It's not free for these companies to make a last-gen game take advantage of current gen hardware. And it's completely optional.

I can't find a complete up-to-date list at the moment, but just know that for Sony's 1st party games, Horizon: Forbidden West in early 2022 was their last game to support the free PS4-to-PS5 upgrade. Any game they've released after that will charge $10 and any game released before that is still free.

I was gonna wait for the PC port anyways, I'm not buying games until end of November this year, but after playing FF16 I knew this was coming after they said the next game was next gen exclusive, I was like oh boy. This won't scale well for performance mode. FF16 already looked pretty dumpy and it still couldn't even nail 60fps. I'm envious of people who are down playing action oriented titles at half refresh, I'm too spoiled this late in my life.

Yeah, you can Go wrong with Horizon. If you have never played it then jump into the first then go IMMEDIATLEY into the 2nd! and get that DLC. It's exclusive to PS5 and man oh man is it great.

Last of us remastered is a good one also, if you never played or it's been awhile. Part two at least has a $10 upgrade if you already bought Last of Us 2. Gran Turismo 7 is a great racer if you are looking for one to add some variety to your library. Street Fighter 6 or any of the last two Mortal Combat games are good additions to have for fighters.

I was actually impressed with Mortal Combat 11... I like how the story was done as story modes in fighters, I find are usually toss in like a bad afterthought.

I played Helldivers 2 like crazy the first two weeks....then FFVII came out. Helldivers 2 is a ton of fun if you have a play group. Pick up groups can be okay too, but mostly I just put everyone on mute when I do. The break from Helldivers 2 was welcome because the grind for unlockables is in the 80-100 hour realm right now, and I was most of the way there.

A lot of new gadgets and vehicles coming soon.

Most fun I've had in a co-op shooter since R6: Siege came out some 8-9 years ago, but I much prefer the PvE model a la Helldivers.

Still getting used to PS5 and didn't realize there was a mic in the controller. Was playing Helldivers 2 on Friday night with my pals and wife, and we were talking about all different sorts of crap from me not understanding the game to our dogs getting spayed. Toward the end of the game, I noticed the little speaker icon next to my name whenever we'd talk and said "uh... are we on mic?"

Wonder if the other three dudes were interested in anything we were saying because if not, it must have been REAL annoying.

Anyhow.... is it true that PS5 game sharing doesn't let the two people play the game at the same time like PS4 did?
Anxiouz
900 Trade Quintuple Gold Good Trader

In the PS5 settings you can default the mic to be muted when the controller turns on...which saves battery life a little bit.

As for game sharing, I had issues with that when I wanted to play Miles Morales on the PS5 while my son was playing it on the PS4. But I forget how we worked it out...we may have just took turns. I think if the owner of the game is logged into PSN and playing it, another account (even within the family) can't use the software at the same time. Whatever it is, it's more clumsy than Xbox's home console thing.

I had an almost identical experience. We played it every day for the first two weeks and it’s easily the most fun I’ve had with a co-op game since probably Left 4 Dead. But I haven’t played it at all since because I’ve been obsessed with Persona 3.

2012. Released on the 360/PS3. But had an upgraded version with all DLC called Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen (which is the only version you can buy now digitally) on the PS4/Xb1. Its been a free game many times on both systems. And is on sale all the time for $5 or less. Its currently on sale for $5.09 on PS4/5, BUT is also part of the PS+ Extra catalogue. So if you have that you can play it for free.

They were until EA bought Codemasters a couple years ago and ruined them. Turning them into crapty arcade games. And putting everyone's favorite thing in them, season passes. These games used to be really solid F1 simulation racers. Now they are a joke. The last couple years have been the standard EA copy/paste with no real changes. But, its free so, what ever.

This year has a return of the story mode. Its okay. Actually its the best part of this version of the game. However, this version of the game has a terrible steering issue that has been in the game since last years version. And was never fixed. So I fully expect it to be in 24 as well. I stopped buying them because they end up on gamepass ever year now that EA owns them. Due to the GPU and EA Play deal.

Capcom released a character creator app for Dragon's Dogma 2 yesterday. Its listed as a demo in the PSN store, but it is not a demo of the game. Just a character creator. It just lets you create up to 5 player characters and 5 pawns. Which you can import into the full game. I'm downloading it now to see how in-depth it is. I'm assuming its has to be more than just a basic creator. The one from the first game was basic except for how your height and weight effected your character. Your stamina and how fast it drained and replenished were effected by it. Plus how much you could carry, and how fast you moved in the world. So hoping that part is still there.
Kommie

I spend less than a minute on character creator. I don't get how people can waste so much time on those things.
Archer

Looks like not only will your height and weight this time around effect things but also your muscle mass as well. So the bigger and stronger you are the more you will be able to carry, but the slower you will move (and the slower your attacks) and you will burn stamina quicker. So it seems to be the same as the first. Either make a short and light main character so they move really fast and you have stamina for days. And have a huge slow dumb pawn to carry everything but also hits like a truck. Or make them both exactly in the middle so you get the sweet spot on everything.

Well, I'm sure this will be like the first game. Because there are lots of dumb ass dudes out there. And they wont use your pawn unless it is something they can jack off to. And no one using it means no rift crystals. And rift crystals are a currency used for a lot of things. I remember in the first game having a dude who was a beast. You could solo the game with him (as in just using the one required pawn) because he had 100% knowledge, and had all the best gear. Was also spec'd perfectly. No one really used him. He maybe got used once a month and didn't earn any RC. I changed him to a chick who looked like an anime nutters wet dream and she was being used so much I ended up with five million rift crystals in a couple weeks.

I got a 4tb WD Black SN850X SSD for a little over $200 on Black Friday, and it’s been great. I mainly like having the extra storage so that I can have all of my PSVR2 games (which are mostly digital) accessible immediately. Also, I have a folder for games I beat but still want to platinum, so I can just open one here and there, work on one trophy, and then go back to whatever game I’m still trying to beat. It’s really convenient.

Deleting stuff works if you don’t have a data cap or aren’t close to hitting it. I have a data cap and it’s the dumbest thing. If you have an external HDD, download it once and move it so you don’t have to download it again. There may be a patch that releases in between, but that download should almost always be smaller than downloading the whole game.

You can get 500GB/1TB external SSDs pretty cheap now just to add room. I have 2 external SSDs (both 500GB I think) and I just throw the larger games I may not be playing now but also don't want to re-DL later to. I don't even keep them always plugged in. But I don't keep things that I know I won't play for months...I just keep current things on the internal storage, and "maybe/soon" things on external storage so that if I do play them I don't have to DL.

For like $25 you can get 500GB external (or more?) and I'd just start with that. I love the idea of having terabytes and not have to DL anything again but I have to imagine the PS5 gets sluggish loading the library and also checking for auto-updates for all titles it sees. But I dunno, I'm totally fine with the system storage.

Helldivers 2 is definitely a type of game I'll play when I get a steamdeck, or if MS ever makes windows more gaming friendly with quick resume and navigation for windows handhelds. Could just imagine booting it up for a bit for a quick play. As it stands now I just play the big games on the big screen.

I've used then with no issue. However they are not "legit" often times codes are bought on different markets or with stolen Credit Cards. Any site listed here is a legit key seller:
https://isthereanydeal.com/shops/

CD Keys, G2A, Kinguin,Eneba, countless others and yes, CD KEYS is not legit. You'll most likely get the game but they are not legit. Indie game developers have said you're better of pirating games than buying from the non legit sites.

CDKeys is great, I use them for Game Pass and PSN subs. Just read clearly what you're buying as they sell some international-only codes as well as codes for some demos (not full games) too. But everything I've bought from them for US or non-regional has worked great.

It’s kind of an arcadey fantasy game with really great controls during the action. It’s pretty meh as far as the story goes but it’s good enough. The difference in the play styles between classes is really diverse as well. Imagine getting to climb on the back of a chimera or hydra and chopping off its head, or ranging it with a bow, or brute forcing it with a sword and shield etc. It’s kind of the next evolution of the capcom fantasy arcade beat em ups in an open world with much more depth. And honestly- the cheese of the dialogue and NPCs is pretty endearing.

"Rise of the Ronin confounds me. On one hand, it's an action game with combat that’s a cut above most of its peers, an interesting historical fiction world and characters, entertaining co-op, and plenty of neat little flourishes that make traveling through its map completing missions a lot of fun. On the other hand, it's heavily weighed down by the forces of the All Game: bloat, the stereotypical “Ubisoft Map With Tons of Icons to Clear,” an outrageous amount of loot loaded with meaningless incremental stat upgrades, and the overwhelming feeling that, like a good TV show that keeps running long past its expiration date, it would’ve been a lot more fondly remembered if there was a lot less of it. I hate these PS5 controllers. Worst quality of any generation/console we've ever had. Another one that is broken. I guess this one can be repaired/replaced at least as it is not even 6 months old. But that will take like 2-3 weeks. So I have to buy another damn controller, my fourth one, so I can keep playing during that almost month turn around. This one has the worst stick drift I have ever seen. Its insane. It became completely unusable tonight. It will not stop cycling to the left at super speed no matter what I do. I've cleaned it, reset it, opened it up a little (removed cover) to clean it better. Even tried the click and rotate thing. Nothing fixes it. So I assume its the connection under the dome cover.

I'm starting to wonder if my docking port, the official one sold by Sony, is the cause of the battery problems. I going to try on this new one that comes in, just using the charge cable on the top port. Instead of putting it on the charging dock and using the bottom one. I think it sitting on that for long periods of time, like over night, might be why the batteries get fried. I mean, the batteries are probably just cheap trash. But its worth testing.

It's so weird that I read all these drift issues on each console. I don't put nearly as many hours into my games as I did, but through all the years/consoles, I've yet to have a single drift issue on any console, ever.

Is it luck of the draw? How the controllers are used/abused? Charging? I dunno, can't say I've ever looked into it.

I have a hard time saying I'm just lucky though. I'm pretty hard on my controllers (which is why they all have protection on the controller + sticks), and my hands sweat 24/7. I would think that I'd be a prime use case of having constantly failing controllers. Hell, maybe the extra perspiration is what results in longevitiy? haha who knows.

I get stick drift on my DualSense every now and then, but it somehow goes away on it's own after a week or two. Then it'll be back a few months later and repeats. I've noticed some games have a thing in the options menu that let you sorta compensate for stick drift. Oddly I've never seen such an option in a Switch game where the drift problem is way more common.

Thankfully I've not read anyone have drift on the VR2 Sense controllers yet, because if it does happen you can't even buy replacement controllers.

These are the only controllers I've ever had an issue with personally. No other console have I ever had to buy new controllers. Well, that is a lie. I had to buy a new PS3 controller once because I purposefully broke one. But that was on purpose. And I was being a child/idiot for being angry at a game. I've never had one ever die on me or break before this system. Never had stick drift issues. But I've had a problem with every single controller purchased for the system.

But you are right, I guess I shouldn't say anyone who hasn't had issue is lucky. I'm sure there are a lot of people out there that haven't had any issues. The people with issues are always going to be far more vocal. But there are a lot of people who voice issues about them. Like, what seems a crazy high amount to me. Which leads me to believe there is a quality control problem with them. And when you charge $70+ for a freaking controller, and you have to buy 4+ of them in just over 3 years of the consoles life. That is not something someone is going to be happy about. Which just makes them more upset about the issues.

That just sounds like the stick is dirty and needs to be cleaned. And you randomly breakup and remove the tiny particles causing the problem. And then it returns later from new dirt. That is very common on these because of the opening being too big on them. Small things can get stuck in them easily. Which is why the press and rotate thing works for so many people. You crush and break up the dirt causing the issue. Cleaning them regularly will prevent this.

How long has drift been a thing? I know analog sticks got messed up over time back in the N64 days, but I don't recall it being a problem on the DualShocks of the PS1, PS2 or even PS3 eras.

I bought a used PSP on here in 2008. I remember noticing the little nub had drift problems. I regret never asking the seller if he knew about it, because I have a feeling he did and that might've been why he was selling it. I also regret leaving him all excellent ratings before I had spent a few days testing the system. Within a couple of months it was bad enough that some games felt almost impossible to play through, so I just gave up on it. Years later I bought a New 3DS XL (not second-hand) and within 6 months the CirclePad was making games unplayable, I could barely even navigate the system's home menu.

I've had drift issues with PC joysticks (like the serious flight style ones). But, there was also some way to fix it in settings (e.g. bigger deadzone around the middle).

Playing Atari 2600 in the 70s, those joysticks never drifted for us, but they definitely just broke (plastic ring around the stick inside would crack such that no contact was made). Those weren't analog/variable, though (just on/off for each direction).

I think I had drift with a ps2 controller (possibly madcatz), though I rarely had issues with ps3 & ps4 controllers.

Know this is the PS5 thread, but I've only had drift on like 2 of my Xbox 1 controllers. I've got an almost absurd like 10 of them from my 3 consoles (One - sold but they didn't want the controller, 1X and SX) then over the years I've purchased 6 unique colors and have another from some bundle purchase... anyhow I had triggers stick more vs. drift, but a little disassembly and cleaning generally fixed the stickiness. Drift actually came from my Red Sports and White Sports designed ones (minor graphics on them, they 'match'), otherwise they've generally been rather solid for me - I used the White Sports one a ton so not overly surprised, was a touch disappointed the Red one had the issue too after much less usage, but they're both the older generation Bluetooth style.

Great price. I've really been enjoying my VR2 so far for the 3 months I've had it, but I'd be lying if I said Sony hasn't really given us much to look forward to in 2024. I know they're going to enable it so it works on PC later this year, but if being tethered to my PC while playing VR is what I wanted, I would have went the PCVR route to begin with.

That article is just dumb.

But on that topic...so far i think the MC is kinda weird, I didnt find her extremely attractive (besides her butt). Weird like she has a completely different art style compared to the other character. And I reaaaaally dont like how her hair looks and flows. Granted, I only saw 2 costumes and my gripe is with the main costume.

Thankfully there's (supposedly) a lot of costumes in the game. Hopefully they dont hide them behind microtransactions.

I think the girl that shows up 1 minute into the game is better looking overall. Even the guy that helps you looks fantastic. Voice acting was good as well.

I was really close on a few...

FF9 - Disk corruption on disk 4 - I plan on replaying it at some point.
Suikoden 2 - sunk about 30 hours in and my PS2 died and lost interest while waiting for my RMA.
Star Ocean 2nd Story - I sunk about 35 hours and I feel as though I was REALLY close but I was was moving around a lot and ended up misplacing it... I actually found it about 8 years ago...
Xenogears - about 40 hours or so in.... I remember feeling I was getting close to the end, I was switching from night shifts to day and I stopped playing games for awhile and never went back.
World of Final Fantasy - This one I feel bad, I was maybe 25 hours in really enjoying it probably about half way and My sister asked me to play World of Warcraft again. It had been years since I played and thought what the hell. Probably went back for 3 weeks we lost interest and never went back to W of FF.
Pokémon Red - Honestly could not tell you how far, playing it along with Stadium it was all a damn blur. But it was a massive amount of time.
Zelda Phantom Hour Glass - I bought this over Christmas when I worked at Dell in a Call center. I about a DS also, because it was dead... work I mean. for 2 days after Christmas you might have received 4-5 calls total. So there was a lot of dead time. I probably got 10 hours in maybe a little more but I never went back to it after those two days. I was HUGE into World of Warcraft and the ONLY game I played at home was that during this time. Never went back.. it's on the list of ones that bug me because it was a shorter game and I could have finished it.

There are probably a handful of others that I got close to halfway like Wild Arms, Legend of Dragoon, FFX, Xenosaga and Chrono Cross.

DRAGON QUEST XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age is one I really liked but for some reason stopped playing, I think I was only 4-5 hours in. I am thinking I was leaving on a vacation and never went back.

There are probably another handful of games like Mario RPG, Zelda Links Awakening (Switch) that I Only have a few hours in and would like to go back.

Unicorn Overlord is honestly grabbing me like Suikoden 2 did. I am having a lot of fun with it. I am about 6 hours into it now. Am I going to be a completionist with this game? probably not.. I don't think I will have the time, but I will get as close as possible. I did pick up some sleep shifts at work so maybe I can squeeze 10-14 hours in that I would not have had otherwise....

@Oduomega Maybe PS+ Extra if you can get it at a discount. Barring that Spider-Man or Ghost of Tsushima are good starts. If you're a Harry Potter fan then definitely try out Hogwarts Legacy. Elden Ring is also excellent, but you probably want to wait for the DLC at this point.. The freebie Astro's Playroom is also pretty fun.

Id have to agree. Extra should have quite a few awesome titles for someone new to PS5. If you only dedicate your game time to 1 game at a time then buy one of the main titles for like $30.

If you can get the Miles Morales SE or whatever, the one that has Spirderman PS5 remaster that. 1000000x that.

Ghosts of Tsushima is a definite play!

Horizon Forbidden West - That is if you have not played the fist. I finished the first and rolled right into FW. I thought I might burn myself out but NOPE. Horizon just solidified as my favorite Sony IP.

God of War Ragnorok - Again if you have played the 1st.

Gran Turismo 7 - if you like racers, I am not a huge fan personally but if you find a good deal on this I do recommend it. It's pretty good.

Helldivers 2 - It's fantastic! Feels AAA nut does not have that AAA price.

Anyone who just got a PS5 should do the PS+ middle tier and try out the main catalog of games. So, so, so many great titles to play. And if you don't want to keep PS+ you will have a bunch of games to then go find deals on to buy.

According to Mr. Grubb, EA had a team in the planning stages of a Dead Space 2 remake, but because sales weren't so great for the first game's remake the team was moved to other projects instead (Iron Man and Battlefield).

I own Dead Space remake, but haven't played it yet. I wonder how much of DS Remake's sales were cannibalized by horror game fans deciding to just wait 8 more weeks for the RE4 Remake instead?

EA has already denied this, at least according to IGN. No idea how true any of it is.

Smells fishy to me. The Dead Space remake was amazing as I enjoyed it way more than the original game. It also had very positive critical and fan reception. I would think if they don’t bank on remaking part two, then they would kind of be shooting themselves in the foot because part two was also awesome. It was the third game in the series that was highly questionable IMO.

I'm not a super "Superhero" fan, so Spider-Man is low on my list, even if people are shouting it from 5th Ave. skyscrapers, lol!

Horizons I've been curious about, might spring for their PS5 versions.

GoW, never really been my cup of tea, even though I'm big on the mythology stuff (as in a fan, not reading...)

GT is on my list, if only for my slowly growing GT collection. Have 1, 2, 3 and 4 so far. Have passed up the PS3 gens so far in the series, if only for them not being priorities on my collecting list.

Helldivers...I'm not a big fan of FPS games, though some games I play (7 Days, RE4 Remake, et al) have those elements.

Thanks for the suggestions, though!

I am also having ALOT of fun with Hot Wheels unleashed. I accidently bought the PS4 version when it was on a digital sale and then bought the PS5 version a few months later since it was cheap and picked up all the DLC for next to nothing. Was kind of shocked how much better it played, even though I don't think it was much of a graphical improvement. I see Hot wheels unleased 2 is on a very good deal... but I will wait it will be again.

Deathloop is another one simply for how it really utilizes the Dual sense
Ratchet and Clank Rift apart is another good one
Last of Us Part one and two - yes I know, but the PS5 versions are beautiful.

Anyway have fun! You have a lot of fantastic content to look forward to.
Returnal - it's on my list also, so I can't coment to much.

I use it and have gotten probably around $35-$40 in PSN credit. The problem is though, for a long time I was not really viewing that part of the app, and a lot of times you have to manually activate a campaign before you'll get credited for completing it, so I wonder how many points I've missed out on? Originally I only kept the app installed because I liked that it notifies you when a game in your wishlist goes on sale, and you can purchase games through the app and have them download the next time you start the console up (or instantly if you keep yours in rest mode).

I've never had anything complete retroactively. It only works after I start the campaign or activity (whatever they call it).

As in if you pick a quest you already finished the criteria for (still have to manually start it) it completes.

Hmm. I installed it today, because I wanted to see how many points I had without ever actually using it beyond signing up for it when it launched. So just from buying things. Enough to get $40 in PSN funds. Not too shabby. But I think I'll try and get enough to get Rise of the Ronin.

But to the point of this quote chain. I started the one for buying a game, for points. Which I owned two of them on two of the list. Neither have completed since activating them hours ago. Maybe that doesn't work for the points ones, but for the collectable ones? Which, what the hell is the point of the collectables. Is their version of NFTs. So dumb.
Anxiouz

Yeah, that doesn't work for me. Example: I was re-playing GOW and realized there was an activity to "play GOW" so I activate it on the app. Nothing happens until I boot up the game again after activation. No past history (about 50 hours worth of GOW) factored into it. Only what I do after activating counts.

I could be wrong, but I don't think those activities count for games you already own before activating it? It sucks enough that it only counts for digital titles.

Yeah the last game I bought day one at full price in recent memory was God of War Ragnorok and that’s only cause I had credit in my PayPal account. More AAAAAA games drop more quickly now I’ve noticed in the past few years. Possibly cause these publishers get the bump they want in the first couple of months at that gluttonous $70 price then cut down the prices to get even more sales. Pretty clever tactic if that’s the case.

Micros are there, but so far everything has been unlockable in game. You can find currency on the maps while you play or you can pay for it an get it faster. Its a weird decision but I think it paid off in the end.

I was trying to wrap up some other games before getting into GOW:Rag:Valhalla. I'm a few hours in now and I'm still giddy to just have more GOW to play, but man, i really don't get this.

I like that it's a bit of a GOW history montage of memories, but the repetition is a style of game I hate...but it also extends the story which makes me interested. Kinda. Both recent GOW games are A+ to me and I love them, and even though the DLC is free....I hate roguelites (or whatever they're called) but this has just enough to keep me playing. But I don't even know what my goal is. Or how far I need to go. Or how many runs this may take. I saw a trophy for getting 15k wisps or whatever in 1 run, which seems insane.

I dropped the difficulty after awhile because the battles weren't much fun. And then just repeating them was less fun. I'm going to keep going but this DLC is the first negative I can mark towards any GOW yet, which is crazy.
