I enjoyed Ghosts as well. Ronin may be worthwhile for the same reasoning if the story and gameplay is sound.

I hate these PS5 controllers. Worst quality of any generation/console we've ever had. Another one that is broken. I guess this one can be repaired/replaced at least as it is not even 6 months old. But that will take like 2-3 weeks. So I have to buy another damn controller, my fourth one, so I can keep playing during that almost month turn around. This one has the worst stick drift I have ever seen. Its insane. It became completely unusable tonight. It will not stop cycling to the left at super speed no matter what I do. I've cleaned it, reset it, opened it up a little (removed cover) to clean it better. Even tried the click and rotate thing. Nothing fixes it. So I assume its the connection under the dome cover.

Weird I've had 5 PS5 controllers since day 1 (4 for local co-op and one for travel) and have had zero issues with any of them

i’ve had issues with several controllers (stick drift) but i still love them. Is this an abusive relationship?

I lost a black controller to drift last month. I got a red one to replace it.
I want the original white one to die now so I can get a purple one.

I have 3x PS5 controllers. Only issue has been the insanely crappy batter life. Sans that, been awesome!

I have 4 controllers as well, x3 of the OG white ones and a GoW Ragnarok one. Two of the three white ones have drift, one of them to the point that no one in the house will use it.

Yeah. First two had major battery problems. After a 12-14 months they couldn't hold a charge for more than 30 minutes. And the last two were stick drift issues. I'd say anyone who hasn't had either of those issues is extremely lucky. As both of those are super common.

I keep mine tethered with a long cord. I almost never unplug it unless psvr or something needs my port.

I'm starting to wonder if my docking port, the official one sold by Sony, is the cause of the battery problems. I going to try on this new one that comes in, just using the charge cable on the top port. Instead of putting it on the charging dock and using the bottom one. I think it sitting on that for long periods of time, like over night, might be why the batteries get fried. I mean, the batteries are probably just cheap trash. But its worth testing.

It's so weird that I read all these drift issues on each console. I don't put nearly as many hours into my games as I did, but through all the years/consoles, I've yet to have a single drift issue on any console, ever.

Is it luck of the draw? How the controllers are used/abused? Charging? I dunno, can't say I've ever looked into it.

I have a hard time saying I'm just lucky though. I'm pretty hard on my controllers (which is why they all have protection on the controller + sticks), and my hands sweat 24/7. I would think that I'd be a prime use case of having constantly failing controllers. Hell, maybe the extra perspiration is what results in longevitiy? haha who knows.

I get stick drift on my DualSense every now and then, but it somehow goes away on it's own after a week or two. Then it'll be back a few months later and repeats. I've noticed some games have a thing in the options menu that let you sorta compensate for stick drift. Oddly I've never seen such an option in a Switch game where the drift problem is way more common.

Thankfully I've not read anyone have drift on the VR2 Sense controllers yet, because if it does happen you can't even buy replacement controllers.

These are the only controllers I've ever had an issue with personally. No other console have I ever had to buy new controllers. Well, that is a lie. I had to buy a new PS3 controller once because I purposefully broke one. But that was on purpose. And I was being a child/idiot for being angry at a game. I've never had one ever die on me or break before this system. Never had stick drift issues. But I've had a problem with every single controller purchased for the system.

But you are right, I guess I shouldn't say anyone who hasn't had issue is lucky. I'm sure there are a lot of people out there that haven't had any issues. The people with issues are always going to be far more vocal. But there are a lot of people who voice issues about them. Like, what seems a crazy high amount to me. Which leads me to believe there is a quality control problem with them. And when you charge $70+ for a freaking controller, and you have to buy 4+ of them in just over 3 years of the consoles life. That is not something someone is going to be happy about. Which just makes them more upset about the issues.

That just sounds like the stick is dirty and needs to be cleaned. And you randomly breakup and remove the tiny particles causing the problem. And then it returns later from new dirt. That is very common on these because of the opening being too big on them. Small things can get stuck in them easily. Which is why the press and rotate thing works for so many people. You crush and break up the dirt causing the issue. Cleaning them regularly will prevent this.

How long has drift been a thing? I know analog sticks got messed up over time back in the N64 days, but I don't recall it being a problem on the DualShocks of the PS1, PS2 or even PS3 eras.

I bought a used PSP on here in 2008. I remember noticing the little nub had drift problems. I regret never asking the seller if he knew about it, because I have a feeling he did and that might've been why he was selling it. I also regret leaving him all excellent ratings before I had spent a few days testing the system. Within a couple of months it was bad enough that some games felt almost impossible to play through, so I just gave up on it. Years later I bought a New 3DS XL (not second-hand) and within 6 months the CirclePad was making games unplayable, I could barely even navigate the system's home menu.

I've had drift issues with PC joysticks (like the serious flight style ones). But, there was also some way to fix it in settings (e.g. bigger deadzone around the middle).

Playing Atari 2600 in the 70s, those joysticks never drifted for us, but they definitely just broke (plastic ring around the stick inside would crack such that no contact was made). Those weren't analog/variable, though (just on/off for each direction).

I think I had drift with a ps2 controller (possibly madcatz), though I rarely had issues with ps3 & ps4 controllers.

Know this is the PS5 thread, but I've only had drift on like 2 of my Xbox 1 controllers. I've got an almost absurd like 10 of them from my 3 consoles (One - sold but they didn't want the controller, 1X and SX) then over the years I've purchased 6 unique colors and have another from some bundle purchase... anyhow I had triggers stick more vs. drift, but a little disassembly and cleaning generally fixed the stickiness. Drift actually came from my Red Sports and White Sports designed ones (minor graphics on them, they 'match'), otherwise they've generally been rather solid for me - I used the White Sports one a ton so not overly surprised, was a touch disappointed the Red one had the issue too after much less usage, but they're both the older generation Bluetooth style.

Great price. I've really been enjoying my VR2 so far for the 3 months I've had it, but I'd be lying if I said Sony hasn't really given us much to look forward to in 2024. I know they're going to enable it so it works on PC later this year, but if being tethered to my PC while playing VR is what I wanted, I would have went the PCVR route to begin with.

That article is just dumb.

But on that topic...so far i think the MC is kinda weird, I didnt find her extremely attractive (besides her butt). Weird like she has a completely different art style compared to the other character. And I reaaaaally dont like how her hair looks and flows. Granted, I only saw 2 costumes and my gripe is with the main costume.

Thankfully there's (supposedly) a lot of costumes in the game. Hopefully they dont hide them behind microtransactions.

I think the girl that shows up 1 minute into the game is better looking overall. Even the guy that helps you looks fantastic. Voice acting was good as well.

3-4 hours into Unicorn Overlord... So far so good. I don't think I will finish it in the time I have with it (got it from the Library) so I may have to buy it or wait to borrow it again. I have it for a month... If I can get an hour a night and then more playtime on the weekends I should get close. It's going to be my first ever JRPG that I have finished.

First ever? Wild! And a game like Unicorn Overlord is probably the last game I'd expect to be someone's first completed JRPG.

I was really close on a few...

FF9 - Disk corruption on disk 4 - I plan on replaying it at some point.
Suikoden 2 - sunk about 30 hours in and my PS2 died and lost interest while waiting for my RMA.
Star Ocean 2nd Story - I sunk about 35 hours and I feel as though I was REALLY close but I was was moving around a lot and ended up misplacing it... I actually found it about 8 years ago...
Xenogears - about 40 hours or so in.... I remember feeling I was getting close to the end, I was switching from night shifts to day and I stopped playing games for awhile and never went back.
World of Final Fantasy - This one I feel bad, I was maybe 25 hours in really enjoying it probably about half way and My sister asked me to play World of Warcraft again. It had been years since I played and thought what the hell. Probably went back for 3 weeks we lost interest and never went back to W of FF.
Pokémon Red - Honestly could not tell you how far, playing it along with Stadium it was all a damn blur. But it was a massive amount of time.
Zelda Phantom Hour Glass - I bought this over Christmas when I worked at Dell in a Call center. I about a DS also, because it was dead... work I mean. for 2 days after Christmas you might have received 4-5 calls total. So there was a lot of dead time. I probably got 10 hours in maybe a little more but I never went back to it after those two days. I was HUGE into World of Warcraft and the ONLY game I played at home was that during this time. Never went back.. it's on the list of ones that bug me because it was a shorter game and I could have finished it.

There are probably a handful of others that I got close to halfway like Wild Arms, Legend of Dragoon, FFX, Xenosaga and Chrono Cross.

DRAGON QUEST XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age is one I really liked but for some reason stopped playing, I think I was only 4-5 hours in. I am thinking I was leaving on a vacation and never went back.

There are probably another handful of games like Mario RPG, Zelda Links Awakening (Switch) that I Only have a few hours in and would like to go back.

Unicorn Overlord is honestly grabbing me like Suikoden 2 did. I am having a lot of fun with it. I am about 6 hours into it now. Am I going to be a completionist with this game? probably not.. I don't think I will have the time, but I will get as close as possible. I did pick up some sleep shifts at work so maybe I can squeeze 10-14 hours in that I would not have had otherwise....

@Oduomega Maybe PS+ Extra if you can get it at a discount. Barring that Spider-Man or Ghost of Tsushima are good starts. If you're a Harry Potter fan then definitely try out Hogwarts Legacy. Elden Ring is also excellent, but you probably want to wait for the DLC at this point.. The freebie Astro's Playroom is also pretty fun.

Id have to agree. Extra should have quite a few awesome titles for someone new to PS5. If you only dedicate your game time to 1 game at a time then buy one of the main titles for like $30.

If you can get the Miles Morales SE or whatever, the one that has Spirderman PS5 remaster that. 1000000x that.

Ghosts of Tsushima is a definite play!

Horizon Forbidden West - That is if you have not played the fist. I finished the first and rolled right into FW. I thought I might burn myself out but NOPE. Horizon just solidified as my favorite Sony IP.

God of War Ragnorok - Again if you have played the 1st.

Gran Turismo 7 - if you like racers, I am not a huge fan personally but if you find a good deal on this I do recommend it. It's pretty good.

Helldivers 2 - It's fantastic! Feels AAA nut does not have that AAA price.

Anyone who just got a PS5 should do the PS+ middle tier and try out the main catalog of games. So, so, so many great titles to play. And if you don't want to keep PS+ you will have a bunch of games to then go find deals on to buy.

According to Mr. Grubb, EA had a team in the planning stages of a Dead Space 2 remake, but because sales weren't so great for the first game's remake the team was moved to other projects instead (Iron Man and Battlefield).

I own Dead Space remake, but haven't played it yet. I wonder how much of DS Remake's sales were cannibalized by horror game fans deciding to just wait 8 more weeks for the RE4 Remake instead?

Smells fishy to me. The Dead Space remake was amazing as I enjoyed it way more than the original game. It also had very positive critical and fan reception. I would think if they don’t bank on remaking part two, then they would kind of be shooting themselves in the foot because part two was also awesome. It was the third game in the series that was highly questionable IMO.
