WAR beta just opened today! I'm playing on Forest of Shadows as Psylion.
Anyone else?

NOTE
if anyone is having problems entering a beta code from Target it may be one of these 2 things:
1. there are no "0" or "O" in target beta codes. it is a misprint. all "O" or "0" should actually be "Q" so try that. (worked for me).
2. the other code on the back is for registering on EA Mythics Account Management site for special items/title. it is not the beta code. |

I played a bit of it earlier as a dwarf. Since they're wiping the servers before the head-start I don't think I'll stick with one toon, I'd like to get a feel for each class after a few hours on each one to decide what I want to make for my "main".

How do you like the game overall? I found it horribly average.

Where did you download it from? I'm having trouble finding somewhere to get it from.
:edit: where do I get an open beta code from?

I think if you're not into the PvP it's not much special and you may as well stick to WoW. But the thing about it is, I've only seen a mere fraction of the content and so it is really FAR too early to judge the entire game based on what little I've seen. The PvP is great and you can get into it very early, find loot in PvP scenarios, and earn XP in them. And the Public Quests are pretty cool too for cooperative PvE play. They have taken basically what worked great for WoW and tweaked it and added some really good ideas and slapped Warhammer Fantasy lore on it. The graphics are pretty nice, IMHO better than WoW, rivaling with LotRO or possibly even a bit nicer. They've got a gritty feel to them which is what they should. I wish it had some gore though. Warhammer should have gore.

It seems you need to pre order Warhammer to get into the open beta. Am I wrong? I figured out I need to create an account(lol, I thought my beta account was the one I needed), when I do, it still requires a open beta code.
I thought open beta meant for everyone, regardless if we have a preorder or not.

Wii, you get the code from preordering the game.
As for first impression, I really prefer the look from WoW. I think most of the technical stuff here are from WoW, only they slap everything in there, so you dont need to download an assload of mods just to make it do what it's supposed to do. Kudos. PVP (RvR) at level 1= neat, and I think they're really getting it right cause I wasnt lagging or anything at all. There were quite a number of stuck NPCs bug though. It's really hard to locate vendor NPC and such too, beside the main vendor, trainer, and quest givers (although I havent gone far yet, maybe there will be more later), but I think they're doing it right labeling everything, even trackers on the world map (which is confusing and needs another level of zoom into the little town btw). The chat layout is 99% like WoW, but for some reason I still cant quite get a grasp for it, ugh. Lets see...I saw some mages with pets, I wanna know how, damn bastards. UI is a little clustered IMO, I like having stuff accessible, but dont throw everything on the screen...too much artworks. The combat is a little meh for me, they have a talent tree type of thing from WoW too, but it looks like it will take me a little bit to get used to. Overall...if I was playing WoW, I'd prolly stick with it (it probably has all the kinks worked out after all these years).

I thought so too. I thought you can get into closed beta with the preorder, but apparently not. Had to wait till today, lame.

Looks like I won't be trying this out then. I wanted to try it out before I bought it, including to see if my video card will run it. It's not supported, but does have the specs needed.

It is Open. If you got a credit card you can get into it immediately (well, immediately after like 10 hours of downloading the client). Just go to Amazon.

It's not. When I go to create an account, it requires an open beta code. You get that with a pre order. I was planning on trying it first before buying it.

I know that will be changed. Quite a bit of the game's horsepower has yet to be unleashed. I'm sure of it. There is 0 AA, 0 AF, etc.

Got to Amazon, pre-order the game, then try it. If you don't like it, cancel your pre-order before release day.

I'm not whining. I was trying to figure out what was up. Sorry I'm not a thief like you and would pre order something, and cancel the order after I got the bonus.

Played through all the classes for High Elf up till level 5. The range classes are pretty boring (Shadow Warrior, Archmage). Somewhat content with the melee classes though (one of them with a pet? wtf? but still cool). Tried the skills, they're pretty crapty. Cultivation, are you fudging serious? I dont have that much patient. I always had the impression that this game would have a much faster pace and more things to keep you going, but so far seems like the same quest grind from WoW to me. Maybe later, if I dont get bored to death from it.
