It seems like lately I've been the butt of many jokes, mostly because of an old pic that I posted a long time ago. When I first posted it and some select individuals chose to make fun of me for it, it pissed me off. After a while, things died down and there wasn't any mention of it up until one day HashPipe decided to talk about it in a post he made. Then things got ugly once again, with people making references to the binoculars that I was holding in that pic. I've been trying my best to tolerate the jokes as best as possible (and yes, I realized how stupid that pic was), but there are some things that I wish you guys would just let die. It really bugs me that some people were asked to chill, but then decide to continue on with the jokes. I don't want to say that the jokes hurt my feelings because I can see why the pic is joke material, but I am asking those who have been making the jokes about my pic to please stop and just let the matter die again.

Wormer - this is the internet. You don't have to live here...you don't have to wake up to this everday. It's really nothing more than pixels on your screen. Odds are, you don't/won't see anyone here in person - ever. (other than maybe some friends that live near you perhaps). People often make jokes about others to make themselves feel better. It happens..just roll with the punches man.

Bowtie, he's been rolling with more than his fair share of the punches for a while now. It's time for a new joke, preferably one that doesn't come at the expense of another user.
Make fun of celebrities or politicians. They're funnier anyway.

u do know it is stuff like this that just attracts more attention to you. If you didn't respond or post stuff like this it would have faded away long ago.

Oh please. He posted the pic. Unless he's mentally retarded he knew what the pic looked like before he posted it. Any ribbing is his own fault. You can't pick a fight then get mad because someone hit you.

It didn't fade away cuz Dyne won't let it go. Where did this post come from? From him! All I see is Van Wormer baiting people into picking on him... let it fade away by not putting yourself out there. Just don't make posts about yourself all the time, don't post pictures of yourself, and don't be so personal in the topics. His last sentence of the first post is to "just let the matter die" -- which is something he is certainly not doing!!!
His latest post was about his co-worker, and there wasn't any joking in there, other than the general "Dyne! Ask to feel her bewbs" or something like that, which would be said no matter who the initial poster was.

How else is he to get people to stop using the picture? There have been recent postings of it, and its been years of the same joke.

Well, from the site rules, wouldnt posting pictures that you KNOW is going to start flaming considered trolling?

Using the forums or chat to intentionally initiate an argument to upset or inflame other traders is not allowed.
Dyne has been here long enough to know that posting a picture such as him in a Santa hat would result in flaming.

Yes, it might be stupid to do that. But he's probably learned his lesson. The same cannot be said for everyone.

How has he learned his lesson? He posted the infamous binocular picture a good three years ago. He has since then posted the santa hat picture, dog picture, and mirror picture. Each one resulted in an immediate reaction similar to the first one.
A reasonable person would assume that posting a picture after getting the results he did would give similar future results.
I cant read sigs.

So what, Chad? He posts the pictures, a few funnies are made, a reasonable person would leave it at that. V-Dub is a strange dude, doesn't mean he needs to be ripped on by rehashed jokes. Treating people with a little bit of respect apparently is a concept lost on someone who measures himself by booze and cash.

Cripes, even if he does post pictures of himself, it doesn't mean that people should still be harping on him 3 years later. I've seen all the pictures, and I've photoshopped a couple of them. I think that Mike realizes that I wasn't picking on him as I haven't continued to post the pictures or ever made fun of him for it. To hear people cracking the same jokes about the guy over and over and over and over and over and over... it makes them look pathetic. I mean, if that's all you've got, that's sad.

The reason for this thread wasn't to ask you to stop making jokes about me altogether, it's just that I'm having a problem with you guys not seeming to let go of the binoculars pic, especially since it was taken way back in middle school. When I first posted it three years ago, I didn't realize I'd be flamed for it, I just wanted to show people what I looked like.

As a personal favor to me, I hope you all will take this opportunity to back off from the Van Wormer joke/images.
I think it's fair to say he brought it on him self, originally. But, it's now gone on and been brought back to life so many times that it's getting old and just mean. If you know Mike doesn't appreciate it anymore, I think it's just common courtesy to back off. Otherwise, you're just kicking a dead horse
Anyway, I'm not going to argue with people about it. As you can see, I'm on Mike's side here. So, if you choose to continue picking on him, don't be surprised by the consequences. |
